THE METHODOLOGY

A four-pillar System. One assessment cycle.

Fast bowling performance sits at the intersection of four disciplines: the action that produces the ball, the cricket that wins matches, the body that holds up across a season, and the mind that decides under pressure. The FastBowlersU System assesses, plans for and re-tests all four — together — on a quarterly cycle, using the leading-edge technology and methods deployed at international and domestic level around the world.

01
PILLAR 01 · TECHNICAL

The action that produces the ball.

Run-up, jump, alignment, release, repeatability. The mechanics that everything else is built on.

Assessed via
  • Cloud video review with coach feedback
  • AI-powered biomechanics — release, speed, alignment
  • 2D modelling against benchmark professional actions
  • Structured 10-question technical questionnaire
Plan output
  • Three technical priorities per quarter
  • Drill prescriptions matched to action type (front-on, side-on, mid-way)
  • Written reference checkpoints for the athlete's own action
Delivered through
  • Monthly coach video feedback
  • Quarterly action review at the Super Clinic
  • Drill library and 1-on-1 in-person sessions (contact tiers)
02
PILLAR 02 · TACTICAL

Plans, field-settings, decision-making.

Building pressure, setting batters up, adapting across formats. The thinking side of bowling that turns spells into wickets.

Assessed via
  • 10-question tactical questionnaire
  • Spell planning, field-setting and matchup audit
  • Role-clarity review within the bowling unit
Plan output
  • Format-specific bowling plans (multi-day, one-day, T20)
  • Field-setting frameworks per batter type and matchup
  • Defined role within the attack — strike, partnership-breaker, holder, death
Delivered through
  • Monthly tactical seminars
  • Pre-season opposition templates
  • Post-match review framework + 1-on-1 sessions at Super Clinics
03
PILLAR 03 · PHYSICAL

Strength, mobility, workload, robustness.

The engine behind the action — and the load management, nutrition and lower-limb care that keep quicks on the park across a season. Fast bowlers break down when this is left to chance.

Assessed via
  • Biometric capture — height, arm span, vertical and horizontal jump, 20m sprint, run-three
  • Bowling speed tracking — average, max, trend
  • Workload questionnaire and injury history audit
  • Nutrition baseline and lower-limb / footwear screen
Plan output
  • Personalised S&C program with 8-weekly reviews
  • Workload caps for the next quarter
  • Prehab routine and mobility priorities
  • Sports nutrition guidance — fuelling, recovery, body composition
  • Podiatry and footwear recommendations — spike fit, plant mechanics, lower-limb load
Delivered through
  • The FastBowlersU S&C portal
  • Monthly check-in with the S&C team
  • Quarterly testing at the Super Clinic
  • Referral pathway into nutrition and podiatry partners
04
PILLAR 04 · MENTAL

Routines, pressure, confidence, reflection.

The composure under pressure that separates net bowlers from match-winners. Built deliberately, not left to temperament.

Assessed via
  • 10-question mental questionnaire — pre-ball routine, pressure performance, self-talk, reflection habits
  • Process vs outcome orientation
  • Goal-setting audit
Plan output
  • Monthly mindset module — workbook plus audio
  • Pre-match and pre-ball routine prescription
  • Reflection templates for post-match review
Delivered through
  • Monthly mindset webinars
  • Workbook series and pressure-tool resources
  • 1-on-1 mental sessions on request
THE 12-MONTH CYCLE

Every athlete in the system operates on the same rhythm.

A LETTER FROM JOE DAWES

"The difference between an elite fast bowler and a club bowler isn't talent — it's access."

For three decades I've worked inside the most demanding environments in world cricket — coaching India under MS Dhoni, winning Sheffield Shields with Queensland, lifting a Big Bash title with the Adelaide Strikers, and developing some of the fastest, most successful bowlers on the planet.

What I've always believed is this: the difference between an elite fast bowler and a club bowler isn't talent — it's access. Access to a structured plan. Access to the right feedback. Access to coaches who have actually been there. And access to it all year round, not just in the few weeks a coach happens to be in town.

The Elite FastBowlersU Academy exists to close that gap. It is the same four-pillar development system used with international fast bowlers, packaged into a monthly subscription that can reach you anywhere in the world — delivered through the latest performance technology and underwritten by my personal involvement.

Welcome to the Academy.

YOUR BOWLER ID

A personal blueprint. Not a generic plan.

Every Academy athlete begins with a complete four-pillar assessment. We build a personal blueprint — your Bowler ID — and design four parallel development plans that evolve with you.

What gets assessed

  • Technical. Full action breakdown via cloud video review. AI biomechanics captures speed, release height, arm path and movement signature.
  • Tactical. Match awareness, plan execution, field-setting and ability to adapt under pressure.
  • Physical. Full testing battery — strength, power, speed, mobility, robustness and bowling load capacity. Plus sports nutrition and podiatry screen.
  • Mental. Confidence, routines, pressure response, motivation and mindset baseline.
  • Background. Injury history, training history, current workload, schedule and goals.

What you get

  • Your personal Bowler ID — a single document capturing where you are right now across all four pillars.
  • Four individual development plans — Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental.
  • Integrated athlete dashboard combining video review, AI biomechanics, S&C and mental check-ins in one place.
  • Quarterly re-assessment, plan reset and updated goals.
  • Annual high-performance review covering technical evolution, speed progression, physical testing, tactical maturity and pathway recommendations.

HOW THE YEAR IS STRUCTURED A 12-MONTH SYSTEM

A 12-month system. Four pillars. Four clinics.

The Academy is built as a complete twelve-month development cycle. Every quarter we re-assess across the four pillars, reset the plan, and anchor the next ninety days. Three seasonal training blocks underpin it. Four Super Clinics drive it.

PRE-SEASON

Foundation & assessment

4 × S&C / week

Build the engine. Establish elite standards. Action work, baseline testing and seasonal goal-setting.

IN-SEASON

Performance & application

3–4 × S&C / week

Maintain peak through competition with load management. Match-day protocols, recovery, tactical execution and mental sharpness.

OFF-SEASON

Recovery & reset

3 × S&C / week

Active recovery and development. Mental and physical reset, technical re-builds, preparation for the next cycle.

FOUR SUPER CLINICS ONE PER QUARTER

Four clinics. One year. Every pillar.

The Super Clinics are the in-person anchors of the Academy's 12-month system. Each one runs across three days, re-assesses every athlete across the four pillars, and ships a remediation plan for the quarter ahead. Four clinics a year — one to guide and set up each of the next three months.

Inside the Academy, your training is continuous. But every ninety days your action, your body, your tactics and your headspace need real eyes, real testing and a re-set plan. That's what the Super Clinics deliver. Three days, four pillars, four written remediation plans. Then back into the system for the next quarter.

  • Three full days on the ground with Joe and the FastBowlersU coaching team.
  • Full 4-pillar assessment — Technical, Tactical, Physical, Mental.
  • Four written remediation plans — one per pillar — to drive the next quarter.
  • Bowler ID updated and dashboard refreshed before you leave.
  • $500 per clinic. Academy subscribers receive a 20% discount.
  • Open to all bowlers — you don't have to be a subscriber to attend.

HOW TO CHOOSE

Three questions and you'll know.

Where do you live?

If you're in South East Queensland, the Contact plans give you the in-person component at NCC Albion. Anywhere else, you're best on a Non-Contact plan — full elite system, delivered globally.

How deep do you want to go right now?

Lite focuses on technique with up to three video feedbacks/month. Elite is the full four-pillar program: unlimited video, AI analysis, S&C, mental, tactical and the seminar series.

How much in-person coaching do you want?

Lite Contact gives you one 75-min group session/week at NCC Albion. Elite Contact gives you two — stacked on the full Elite plan. Three slots weekly, cap 10, first-in.

Can I move between plans?

Yes — month-to-month. Start where you're comfortable and step up when ready. Many bowlers begin with Lite and progress to Elite as their training evolves.

WHY THE ACADEMY IS DIFFERENT

Most coaching is sessions. The Academy is a system.

MOST COACHINGGives you sessions.
THE ACADEMYGives you a system. A long-term, four-pillar development arc — not a string of one-offs.
MOST COACHESTeach what they've read.
JOECoaches what he's lived. India, IPL, Sheffield Shield, BBL, ICC — three decades inside the elite environment.
MOST PROGRAMSAre local.
THE ACADEMYIs built to be delivered anywhere — phone in hand, club ground or back garden, anywhere in the world.
MOST PLANSAre generic.
YOURSYou're assessed across all four pillars and given a development plan for each. Your plan, not someone else's.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Regional QLD is a cricket goldmine. The pathway is uneven.

Queensland produces a disproportionate share of Australia's professional cricket talent. But the systems around that talent — biomechanics screening, action analysis, bat sensor data, structured testing — are still concentrated in Brisbane. Regional families face three structural barriers. The Roadshow closes all three.

BARRIER 01

Distance

Most high-performance pathways require travel to Brisbane, multiple times a year, at significant family cost. The Roadshow takes the academy to the athlete.

BARRIER 02

Cost

Private academy fees, biomechanics screens and bat sensor sessions are typically $200–$800 per athlete. The Roadshow is free for every athlete who registers.

BARRIER 03

Data invisibility

Without measurement, talented regional athletes are missed, mis-coached, or simply unaware of how they compare to peers. The Roadshow gives every athlete a permanent profile.

THE FORMAT

Two streams. One day.

Each visit operates two structured streams — bowling and batting — run as separate sessions. Every athlete is biometrically measured, video-recorded with elite tracking technology, and given access to their own data and footage post-event.

01
STREAM 01

Bowling

  • Biometrics: DOB, height, arm span, vertical jump, horizontal jump, 20m sprint
  • Bowling action recording: high-frame-rate iPad video, front-on and side-on
  • Bowling speed: every delivery measured with match-standard radar
  • Skills test: target-zone scoring across yorker, length and short ball
  • 1:1 coach feedback from the program lead
Output → full data set, video footage and a permanent FastBowlersU Bowler ID.
02
STREAM 02

Batting

  • Biometrics: full panel plus a timed run-a-three
  • Bat sensor data: bat speed, swing path and impact metrics (StraightBat)
  • Video capture: front-on and side-on iPad for every session
  • Skills test: shot-execution scoring against pre-defined deliveries
  • 1:1 coach feedback from the program lead
Output → full data set, video footage and a permanent FastBowlersU athlete profile.

TECHNOLOGY STACK

Multi-angle video capture

High-frame-rate front-on and side-on capture for batting and bowling. Same platforms used by professional players.

Match-standard radar
Per-delivery bowling speed

Broadcast-quality speed measurement on every delivery, with tripod mounting kit and spare batteries on every tour.

StraightBat
Bat speed & swing data

Bat-mounted sensor capturing bat speed, swing path and impact metrics. Pairs to iPad for instant feedback.

Cloud video platform
Coach annotations & longitudinal review

Footage uploaded within 72 hours under each athlete's profile. Coach annotations and longitudinal review.

FOR ATHLETES READY TO BE MEASURED?

FOR SPONSORS

Would you like to help find the next regional superstar?

The Roadshow is built to be sponsorable — endorsed by cricket bodies, anchored by elite delivery, and reaching cricket-engaged athletes and families in catchments major brands otherwise struggle to land.

FOR HOSTS — venue & local partner section ==================================================== -->
FOR HOSTS BRING THE ROADSHOW TO YOUR TOWN

Host a stop.

The Roadshow is built around local partners on the ground. If you're a school, club, association or council with the venue, the network and the want — let's talk. We supply the coaches, equipment, technology and program. You supply the local pull.

HOST TYPE 01

Schools

State, independent or sports colleges with cricket nets and active programs. Roadshow becomes a branded school day.

HOST TYPE 02

Cricket Associations

Regional and district associations with athlete recruitment reach and venue access across multiple clubs.

HOST TYPE 03

Clubs & Academies

Local clubs with strong junior programs looking to add a high-performance touchpoint for their members.

HOST TYPE 04

Councils & Civic

Regional councils, RDA bodies and tourism boards backing community sport, talent development and youth engagement.

THE PARTNERSHIP

What we need. What you get.

What we need from you

  • Venue. Indoor or outdoor cricket facility with at least 2 nets in good condition.
  • Run-up. Minimum 20m run-up for fast bowling stream.
  • Open space. For biometrics station and 20m sprint test.
  • Power & connectivity. Reliable Wi-Fi (or 4G/5G coverage) for live data sync.
  • Spectator area. Shade and seating for parents and visiting families.
  • Local promotion. Help us reach your athletes 4–6 weeks before the date.

What you get in return

  • Free coaching. A free, high-performance day for the athletes in your community — no athlete fees, no host fee.
  • Post-event report. Athlete numbers, performance benchmarks and community engagement metrics for your records.
  • Co-promotion. Your school / association / council named and credited across event comms, social and on-site signage.
  • Pathway data. Your standout athletes flagged into the FastBowlersU pathway with full data behind them.
  • Annual relationship. Hosts are prioritised for repeat years — your athletes get longitudinal capture across multiple Roadshows.
  • Brand association. Visible alignment with a high-quality, Joe-Dawes-led, sponsor-backed national program.

FOR SPONSORS FOUNDING PARTNERS WANTED

Sponsor a tour built to be sponsorable.

FastBowlersU Roadshow is purpose-built for partnership: a repeatable 25-event annual canvas, a cricket-engaged regional audience that's hard to reach any other way, rich digital content from every stop, and measurable outputs you can report against. We're inviting a small number of founding partners to shape the program before the calendar is locked.

REASON 01

Repeatable

25 events provide a stable annual canvas — not a one-off activation.

REASON 02

Measurable

Every event produces structured digital data — registrations, sessions, video views, social impressions.

REASON 03

ESG-aligned

Free, regional, equitable, athlete-centric — a credible community story for any brand.

REASON 04

On-ground + on-screen

Physical signage, athlete bibs and station co-branding, plus persistent placement in the FastBowlersU app.

REASON 05

Content-rich

Hundreds of branded video assets per season — short-form and long-form, ready to redistribute.

REASON 06

Pathway-credible

Endorsed by cricket bodies and regional associations — sponsor presence carries authority.

WHO YOU'RE REACHING

A high-value, hard-to-reach audience.

Cricket-engaged junior athletes plus the parents, clubs and schools that surround them — in catchments where major sponsor advertising is otherwise hard to land.

10–18
Junior athletes

Cricket-engaged, performance-minded, regional Queensland.

Parents & guardians

High household-decision influence; spend on sport, education and travel.

Clubs & associations

Decision-makers for grassroots equipment, programs and partnerships.

Schools & colleges

Recruiters, sports coordinators and PE departments.

Plus the digital halo — every athlete share, parent post and coach annotation extends the brand.

Joe Dawes — founder and head coach, FastBowlersU
THE FULL STORY

A career in fast bowling — on both sides of the line.

Joe Dawes is widely regarded as one of the leading fast bowling coaches in international cricket. A former Queensland Bull with 285 first-class wickets, he learned his craft alongside Ian Healy, Andrew Symonds, Michael Kasprowicz and Andy Bichel before becoming one of the game's most respected bowling mentors.

His coaching career spans elite programs in India, Australia's national women's team, Queensland, South Australia and Papua New Guinea. He was bowling coach of India's national cricket team under MS Dhoni — coaching Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja during one of India's most successful eras.

His teams and programs have won at the highest levels: the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy with India, the Big Bash League title with the Adelaide Strikers, multiple Sheffield Shields with Queensland, and historic ICC World Cup qualification with Papua New Guinea.

The FastBowlersU 4-Pillar System is the distillation of those three decades — the System Joe used at every level, now codified so it can be delivered to athletes and programs anywhere in the world.
